We (ages 8-12) just watched two great movies. One was October Sky which is based on the non-fiction book Rocket Boys. It's the story of a group of boys growing up in a dying coal-mining town who are inspired by a teacher and Sputnik to make their own rockets. The other movie, Skellig, was also based on a book. It has a few mild language issues, but my kids really liked it.
